What is this place?

It’s a blog about West Virginia University sports, launched in November of 2012 by four gentlemen who share an enthusiasm for all things WVU. We just want to share our thoughts and opinions on important subjects like gold jerseys with gray pants, the Mountaineer’s ability to grow a beard and whether or not Dana Holgorsen has to pay for all the headsets he breaks.

Why is it called The Jack Fleming Society?

We wanted to name the blog after a uniting Mountaineer presence. People have different opinions of coaches and players, but who doesn’t get the warm fuzzies from listening to Jack? He’s someone the four of us all admired and miss, and we suspect you feel similarly. No disrespect intended to Tony Caridi, of course. We dig him, too.

Does Jack Fleming have anything to do with this?

No. Jack Fleming is dead. We have no affiliation with him, his family, or anyone at all, really.

What should I do here?

Make yourself comfortable. Read, comment, share … whatever feels right to you. We’d eventually like to build a community of Mountaineer fans and be home to lively and civil discussions in the comment sections. We know this takes time, though. We can wait. In meantime, though, it wouldn’t hurt anything if you told your friends about us.
